Tsukuba lidar
Before March 2010, ozone and temperature measurements were made by the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES). In the period 1988 - 1997 ozone profiles were acquired between 20 and 45 km. An upgrade of the system allowed from February 1997 onwards that the ozone measurements be extended downwards, thus covering the altitude range 15 to 45 km. Temperature profiles were taken between 30 and 80 km.
The system used a XeCl laser, a XeF laser and a KrF laser and had a 2-m telescope.
